Care & Residential Homes

Lost and mislaid garments are the second highest reason for complaints in the care home industry today. Clothing is key to our personal identity and when a favourite shirt or blouse goes missing, or even worse is worn by someone else in the care home it can be very upsetting for all concerned.

The traditional methods of sewing in, or ironing on labels do not always prove robust enough when clothing needs daily washing. These methods can come off during the laundry process and may need to be re-done on a regular basis, which is very time consuming. Unsightly marker pen not only ruins the garment but washes off very quickly.

With many different people's clothing going into one laundry, if it is not adequately labelled then it can get mislaid. Carers and laundry staff then have to spend precious time trying to match garments to residents.

Attach-a –Tag is used in many of the largest care home groups in the UK and has proved successful at reducing lost laundry whether the home or the resident is responsible for labelling. It's simple, quick and secure attachment device means that the tag will stay on the garment until it needs to be removed. The ergonomically designed shape, coupled with its discrete size means that it is barely discernable by the wearer.

Even high dependency residents can use Attach-a-Tag. In every kit a positioning guide is provided and the tags should be positioned in accordance with this guide. Attach-a-Tag is not recommended for elasticised underwear, hosiery or socks, and many care homes have moved to using the net bag system for underwear to increase efficiency and reduce handling of these garments. The net bag then has a tag applied to the label in order to identify it.

If you are a care home you will need to order the bulk motorised applicator and please give us a call, we will be more than happy to discuss how to implement this simple system in your care home.

If you are a relative of a resident then you will find attach-a-tag quickly solves the labelling problem and means that your relative’s clothes are always returned to them.

We suggest you not apply Attach-a-Tag to underwear, hosiery or elasticised socks that will press directly on the skin. It is more cost efficient to place these items into a net bag and attach the tag to the bag label.
